I chose #key2future as my hashtag to describe what education means to me. Education means having a college degree which will be key to my future. I strongly believe that an education is vital to being successful in life, to having more opportunities, and to be on the same playing field as many others. Obviously, having an education or a college degree opens up doors that will remain close to those that do not have one.
In order to increase the odds of being successful in life, a college degree is a must. Many companies nowadays will not even discuss a job opportunity with a potential candidate unless he or she has a college degree. One can just browse some of the jobs openings to see that most companies require a college degree. Without that education level, many jobs out there will be out of reach.
Now, it is true that there are occupations out there that do not require a college degree but those jobs will pay minimum wage or slightly more and not necessarily give someone the opportunity to grow or to have a career path. Having a college degree, will give an individual more opportunities since he or she will be able to apply for many more jobs with higher pay rate. Ultimately, having a better paying profession, allows for more confidence, freedom, and the ability to provide for one self.
In addition, having a college degree will allow a graduate to be on the same playing level as all of those other graduates with similar degrees. A company that is looking to hire an individual for an open position is more likely to hire someone with an education. After that, it will be a matter of what degree and what experience someone possesses but at least the education level is what will give that individual the opportunity to be interviewed.
In summary, an education is key to a future and key to success. It is the building block of life and knowledge. It gives a person confidence and a basic knowledge that will be crucial to that job opportunity and that job growth.
