The opportunity of a life time for myself would being able to study abroad. My mother, as a high schooler, was able to be a foreign exchange student in New Zealand. Personally, I would love to have to chance to experience New Zealand like my mother did. To study abroad would mean to meet tons of new and different people. Having a different outlook on different cultures and how they work. Experiencing different agricultural setting with different foods that are grown around the world. Experiencing new people and a different culture is what studying abroad means to me.
Meeting different people that live in a completely different country than I would be such a different experience. The way they see the county as home versus the way I see it as a vacation destination. The people of this different country knows the ins and the outs of the country. What most people see are the most popular destinations of the country. The people that live in that country know of the other places that are not as popular. Sights and places that not every visiting person is able to see. I would want to see the actual country and how people live in that country. I want to see what the people eat, where they work, and what agriculture is like. Different food is grown in different countries and they farm differently than we do here. Seeing how farming is done can broaden my horizons on my agricultural views. Food is important for everyone to eat everyday. Agriculture should be understood better and should be taught to more people. Other countries may value agriculture more than we do here in the United States.
The Culture in other countries are so different. People in different countries dedicate time during the day just to drink coffee or tea. The culture is a huge part of the country. The Culture is what shapes the country and what makes the country unique. Having the experience other people do around the world is amazing to me. The way people dress, what they listen to, how they talk, and what they do is all part of it. The way that countries develop these cultures are unique and different. The country as a whole is unique and has so much history behind it. The history behind a building or the culture of the country is amazing. There are so many stories and myths that most people have not heard of. Being able to study abroad and see and experience these types of things would be a chance of a lifetime.
Having the opportunity to see and develop new experiences is amazing. Being able to tell my children that I was able to spend my school year overseas becoming familiar with a new country would be awesome. I always wanted to be able to be just like my mom and do this type of thing. I never had the opportunity and I hope I can find a chance to be able to study abroad when I am in college. Studying abroad would make myself more knowledgeable about the world around me.
