My favorite school Subject. by Megan - April 2013 Scholarship Essay

My name is Megan Hardrick and I am a freshman in college. English is my favorite subject because of my genuine interest and my passion for knowledge. English will help me with all subjects in my curriculum, build better communication skills, and helps with my everyday livelihood. To me the basic structure to learning is English. In speaking, writing, or critical thinking English is essential. When I am in front of a class it is very embarrassing using incorrect grammar while speaking; that makes me look incompetent. I love learning and using new words especially when doing an essay for class or a presentation. Learning more words along with the meaning enables me to feel more comfortable using the words correctly in speaking and writing. I take English very serious because it emphasizes reading, writing and grammar. This allows me to become a better communicator. English classes are like stepping stones to a lifetime of rewards; not only do the lessons help with other classes while attending school, they also build a bridge to a successful career. I know that Ferris State University is a high quality school, and their English courses will help me become better at English when i attend that school this fall.
