Having been admitted into university as an undecided student goes against what every college counselor recommends doing. Having no direction from the start of your higher education journey doesn’t provide an appealing way for universities to see future potential in a student’s academics or further major completion. Being somewhat indecisive, combined with my unattainable desire to do everything, led me to explore the options available to me, which is where I was first introduced to Interdisciplinary Studies. It fit everything I was looking for; providing me with the freedom to study various topics while simultaneously working towards a place where I can feel comfortable in my position.
Being able to achieve a greater purpose, might mean focusing on things that will be beneficial for me in the future. Having a clear and concentrated set of goals and aspirations, at the beginning of a life-changing move, is beneficial in maintaining a clutter-free mind, as well as starting off on the correct foot. In the past, I’ve fallen into the trap of not setting my intentions and subsequently being unable to keep on a straight path. This led to major issues regarding time management, and workload weight, which is why my main goal for beginning this next academic chapter is to explore what my university has to offer in a way that isn’t overwhelming. This step would also include making and maintaining a schedule that prioritizes my studies for a balanced academic life.
