Who I would have dinner with by Max - February 2016 Scholarship Essay
If I could have dinner with any historical figure, I would choose to dine with a person who is known as an international icon: Walt Disney. The reason I choose him is not only because I idolize him, but it's also because he has a creative mind that is unmatched by anyone else who has ever existed. Disney was extremely innovative and imaginative, and his ability to personify animals and inanimate objects to tell a story or sing a song is truly amazing. Cartoons and animation are a passion of mine, so I aspire to be the type of person he was, and discussing it with him would be a dream come true.
There's no doubt that he had to get through many obstacles to do what he achieved, and I would love to talk to him about how he developed his characters as they grew and became a part of his life. Another thing that impresses me about him is how all of his works are family-oriented and enjoyed by young children, as well as by adults and an older generation of people. His audience was not segregated by age, race, gender, ethnicity, or intelligence, which I find to be a fascinating trait of his.
Another interesting thing to chat about as we eat would be how his business and ideas have developed since his passing. His opinion of how they are now compared to how he would have done the work himself would be neat to know about. If he were to return to Disneyland or see how Disney World turned out, what would he think, and what changes would he make? We could also discuss what he planned to do if he had lived another ten years. There were many possible contributions he could have been able to make for his company, his work, and entertainment overall. Mr. Disney would definitely be my choice to meet, eat with, and talk to.
