What part of a college experience will you be most thankful for, and why? by Maurice - November 2016 Scholarship Essay

The part of a college experience I'll be most grateful for is meeting new people. I will be grateful for this part because I will meet new people and some of them will be friends for life. I can start a network of friends in many different professions and this will help me become a more knowledgeable person because I will have some knowledge in these various professions through my friends. Knowing more things in life opens up so many different opportunities to make money or to go to foreign lands.

I am also excited to meet new people because it will give me fresh faces in my life. This is good because it will add more excitement, for a little time at least, in my life. New people are interesting because they always surprise me. Once I get to know them better throughout the course of the year, I will learn more about who they are as a person and what their tendencies are. People who I think are funny and always interesting will become my really good friends and we will hopefully be my friends for life.

Since I am a shy person, meeting new people always makes me put myself out there to try and make new friends. This is good for me because throughout life I will be meeting new people and I need to be able to talk to them with confidence. So far during my senior year, I have made a couple of new friends and I'm starting to become a networker by having friends in different cliques. College will help me improve my networking skills and put myself in a position to succeed.

These are all reasons why I will most thankful for meeting new people in college.
