High School by Maura - November 2013 Scholarship Essay

The best lesson I learned in high school is to always try my best. That means having good time management, having integrity, and just being a good person. Be yourself and always do your best. Do not let anyone change you.

Good time management is a necessary skill to succeed in school and life. It is important to always be on time. It shows that a person is reliable and can be trusted.

Having integrity is perhaps the most important thing I learned in high school. Honesty is a key to life. It shows who you are as a person. I, personally, do not trust people that cheat. Being honest with yourself and others affects your point of view and self-esteem.

Volunteering and helping others in the community helps build character. It allows people to put themselves in others shoes. It encourages selflessness.

In high school, people truly find out who their friends are. Sometimes, it becomes difficult to trust people. Always staying true to yourself is the way to find out who your true friends are. You cannot find out who you truly are if you are pretending to be someone else.

High school is a difficult, but necessary time in all students lives. It helps build character. It strengthens relationships. Friendships are formed and broken. Life eventually moves on, but the lessons learned in high school will be carried on.
