My favorite non-traditional way to learn is learning visually and engaging by hands on or interactive learning. I learned at a young age that I got bored by just reading or hearing my teachers talk. I needed to actually see images or videos to grab and keep my attention. Visual learning makes the world of learning so much easier. There’s so much to learn and life is a journey. It’s important to learn what your learning styles are. It will help you be more successful in the end. Some of the things I’m currently learning outside of school is money management. My mother often gives my siblings and I activities to do involving money. The activities include real life scenarios where I have to budget money. I am learning about boundaries and life lessons that will help me be successful in relationships when I go to college. I’m learning about self-care and cooking for myself even though in our culture, girls are known to be the cook. I’m learning to be more responsible by actively being hands on with my college process, all while maintaining my academic grades. I’m also learning time management skills, so that I learn the value of time at an early age. One thing my mother is teaching me is to never think you know it all. Everyday is an opportunity to learn something new, from fresh perspectives and in a new way.
