My Dream by Matthew - September 2017 Scholarship Essay
Looking back, I can’t help but to remember the countless hours I spent staring into the blank space of my bedroom ceiling dreaming about what the future had in store for me. From fighting galactic creatures in a red uniform to building my very own indestructible iron suit to saving the world in a red cape, I couldn’t help myself but to dream about anything and everything.
As I got older, I began to see the differences in my dreams and of those around me. Theirs appeared to be more realistic and profound if you will. Starting then did I realized that my dreams were the foundation in which my future would be built upon. But never did I allow this to stop me from dreaming big. As Harriet Tubman once said, “Every great dream begins with a dreamer…” I am that dreamer and I dream of getting an education. I dream of going to college. I dream of someday reaching the “American Dream” that my parents had envisioned for me when they first stepped foot on the United States. I dream of giving my parents a life that is worthy of all the adversity and hardship that they have gone through.
In the end, dreams have no limits. That’s the best part about them. Whatever my dreams may be. No matter how far-fetched they may seem. The sense of hope is an irreplaceable sensation that will continue to drive me to chase after my dreams.
