Ten Years From Now by Mary - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
Ten years from now I will be 27 years old and have worked as a Nurse/Nurse Practitioner for two years. I will have conducted research on Alzheimer patient treatment and will be working on developing a new method of respectfully helping these patients. My grandmother was afflicted with Alzheimer's and I have worked as a CNA in a nursing home. I do not feel that patients with this disease are treated fairly or respectfully. I am passionate about developing treatment methods which will help these patients live their life in dignity.
I am a high school senior. I have completed a CNA certification program at a high school vocational program near my high school. I am currently enrolled in a medical terminology program. I have taken a full course load, including AP courses, played three sports for four years, am a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and have maintained a 4.0 grade point average. I plan to attend a four year college and major in nursing. I am accustomed to working hard to get what I want and know that college will be a challenge.
The education I will receive in a certified nursing program will give me the background and training to begin a career in nursing. I will then go on to earn my master’s degree and become a Nurse Practitioner. I plan to be involved in organizations in college to become a well-rounded candidate for a nursing position in a hospital.
I have wanted to be a nurse for most of my life. Helping relatives who were ill has come easy to me and I think that I could be an asset to this profession. This scholarship will help eas
