10 Years Down the Road by Mark - March 2020 Scholarship Essay

In our youth we often get caught up in the moment. We get caught up in the events currently happening in our life that are of utmost importance. But do we take enough time to look at our futures? For me personally, I am juggling the college acceptance process, high school sports, and giving all my effort to finish my senior year strong. The events that are currently in my life are very important, a lot of time and effort must be put into mapping out my future. Especially my 10-year career plan.
10 years down the road I picture myself running a cyber security firm. However, I can't jump too far ahead yet. First we must start with where I'm at now. In September I was accepted to Liberty University, where I will begin to study cyber security next fall. I will graduate in 2023 or 2024, depending on my current dual-enrollment credits. While attending Liberty I plan to secure an internship. An internship is a great opportunity to gain experience in the field of cyber security, while gaining an edge in the job market. With that being said hopefully the internship will lead to a job offer. Ideally I would have the offer to work in the cyber security field somewhere in my senior year of college.
The most important part has been accomplished in my 10-year career plan, I have successfully secured a job. Once I have a job I will work and continue to learn the ins and outs of cyber security. The plan is to rank up in the company gaining leadership positions and experience. As I become more experienced and gain high ranking roles in the company I plan to go on my own path. On this path I will take what I have learned and start my own cyber security firm. At this point the process continues. Another aspiring cyber security student will come to my company, rank up, and have a similar path to me. At this point in my life I will be 28 years, with a very successful career. This is my 10-year career plan. Through hard work, dedication, and leadership all goals are attainable.
