Three steps to success by Mark - December 2017 Scholarship Essay
There are many different strategies for success on school projects. As I have gone through school, and learned from my mistakes, I believe I have found the recipe to success. The following outlines how I pursue each project I work on, whether it be in a group or individually.
In order to be successful at a school project, you need to work through the 3 steps of project planning and execution. The three steps are as followed: Planning, research and execution, review. If you follow these steps, you can be successful with the project you are working on.
To begin with, you have to first define what the objective of the project are. This is the planning phase of the project. Once the objectives are clear and concise, you have to start outlining your plan of attack on the project. If you're working with a group, this can be where you start to divide and conquer among the group members. What do the other people in your group have experience in? Do you need to get others involved? Do you know others who have had to work on this project/issue in the past? Once there is a clear picture on who will be working on each task of the project, it can then move onto phase two: research and execution.
Step two is where a majority of the "leg work" will be performed. As you continue to research and learn more about the task you are trying to achieve, one important thing is to be communicating what you are finding. If your deliverable to the group may change slightly, then these need to be communicated to your group in advance so everyone is aware of the change. As you find more out about your project, you must then put it into a presentable form, and then you can move onto step three.
Finally, it is important to review your project for any errors or inconsistencies. Just like this essay, it is important to go to the beginning and ensure you've answered the question being asked and your research supports your conclusions. This is how I pursue every project I am working on, but like most things, a strategy is always easier said than done.
