No students should not be required to study abroad. Forcing students to do so could lead to disastrous results. Some of these results could be that a student could become upset with being forced to do something they do not want to do and could possibly drop out of college. Another might not even go to college and miss out on the education because they do not want to go through with a mandatory study abroad. Making students go overseas when they do not want to could make them homesick and not want to finish their study. Some students may not be ready for the adventure and end up spending their time doing whatever they want and not completing their study. Studying abroad should be left as an option and not a requirement to college students. By forcing students, it can do more harm than good by sending an unwilling college student out of the country.
Studying abroad is a wonderful adventure and should be continued, just not required. It can be an incredible and fascinating experience for the people that choose to do it but it can be a miserable and terrible experience for the ones that don’t. the experience could possibly ruin traveling for some people. Studying abroad should be left as it is and remain an option and not be a requirement.
