High School As A Freshmen by Maritza - March 2019 Scholarship Essay

High school can be very different from middle school. As an incoming freshmen, they really don’t know the expectations that high school has for them. Of course there are many different high schools all over the world, but let me give incoming freshmen some little tips. High school as a 9th grader was very easy for me. It was not hard dealing with many classes unless you take advanced classes like an Honors or an AP course; everyone’s mindsets are divergent. My opinion about freshman year is that it was the best of the years I had in high school. This is the year where you get to meet new people who come from different middle schools and create new friendships. Freshmen year was basically like another year in middle school but starting to think about your future and careers.
Tip #1...be very outgoing. High school is about being you. Don’t be scared to show who you truly are, if you want to join a club or a sport, do it! Don’t let no one hold you back. Yes there will be people who will be very judgmental, but think about yourself. High school years are the years when you start getting to know yourself even more than you had ever before. You might discover new activities you like to do and before you didn’t even have a clue what it was. High school brings out great opportunities. Opportunities for a student to be more involved in school activities, making friendships, and getting to learn more about college. High schools offer many clubs, clubs are great to becoming involved in school activities, making friends, and learning about colleges and it is quick an easy.
Tip #2...don’t have too much workload, unless you are a great student who knows how to manage very well and very carefully their time and health. It is very important to take care during high school, get enough sleep and don’t stress yourself. I am a Junior in high school right now and I can say that high school has stressed me out quite a bit. As an AP student and a dancer, I recommend to balance out your homework and your time outside of school. AP and Honors classes can give you much work and it can also be very hard to equal out the other work you have for after school activities. Yes, the goal is to get into college, but you can get into college with the best being a 3.5 to 4.0 and above GPA, so don’t stress yourself and don’t make it heavy on you either. You can definitely earn a GPA ranging from there without having to take advanced classes. But also have that biggest goal of your future. High school prepares students for their futures, so also be concentrated on your life after graduating and don’t slack! Clearly this is just my suggestion and anyone can decide for themselves to make it work the best for them. But make sure to take care of your health because it is the best part about a student.
Lastly tip #3 is to have as much fun as you can. You only go to high school once. There are so many cool things to do while being in high school. Go to school dances like Homecoming, Winter Formal, and later when being a Junior or Senior go to Prom. It is so much fun. Go to the school games and enjoy your high school years. School is for education but why not add a little fun into it. Remember that you are just a teenager sooner or later to become an adult. Live the best out of your high school years. Truly value yourself and look forward for what you want, be committed to school at the same time. High school is truly a great experience and it will definitely go by so fast. And remember, be yourself, be committed but also take care of yourself, and have fun! Always remember that you have a future that awaits, so don’t give up and push hard for what you truly desire.
