Leadership skills are necessary in every aspect of your life, especially when attending college. Success is derived from hard work, dedication, and leadership. Without those three things combined, you will not succeed to your fullest potential.

To me, college is just high school on steroids. You still have to take History and English even if you aren’t really interested in those classes and you still get to take those that capture your attention like Anatomy and Sports Medicine. Hard work in every one of those classes is necessary for your overall GPA to be high. Even if you are going to college to be a biology major, the biology classes aren’t the only thing that affect your GPA. Dedication added to the hard work enables homework to be finished before the assignment is overdue. Hard work and dedication combined can take you very far in life, but when leadership is added to the mix, your potential can be reached. In high school, leadership skills were necessary in order to get an officer position in a club or to get a biology lab completed. Sometimes you had to be the one that took charge and lead the lab experiment, instructing others what to get while you set up the data and read the instructions. Leading others isn’t too difficult, but the skill that is the most important is being able to lead yourself. In high school you have teachers and parents and coaches that keep you in line and tell you to do your homework and to study. In college, you are virtually by yourself when concerned with making your own decisions. No one is there to hold your hand or to tell you to go to class; it’s completely up to you. Having that kind of control is sometimes scary to think about, but as long as you can take charge and lead your life the way you want to, it will make it easier to handle.

Being able to lead yourself and others is a very essential task in anyone’s life, why would it change with attending college. In order to succeed at any university around the world, leadership skills are necessary along with hard work and dedication.
