Facing College Step by Step; A Freshman Code by Maria - September 2014 Scholarship Essay
In this day and age, College is a required study that all people must accomplish in some form. A doctor cannot go to work with an associate’s degree, and a teacher cannot go to school without receiving their own education. Searching for the right degree and the right school is a stressful task that all future freshmen must endure - requirements of midnight studying, weekend campus tours, and vacation college interviews. In order to guarantee success in college, one must be self-motivated to complete all assignments and responsibilities that are associated with being a young adult.
Furthermore, colleges strive to obtain a variety of students in their program, they highly value exemplary students. A student who devotes to their field of study is precious to any school because they positively represent the student body and the rating of the school. The integrity of a college is maintained by the students who use the tools provided by their professors to succeed in life above and beyond all other schools. For many freshmen, their Achilles’ heel might be their social gatherings or their extra-curricular activities. Unlike the joys of being a minor, a self motivated college student must put their work first and sacrifice some things -that can be re-scheduled later- in order to obtain success in college. A student who commits to achieving in their college will graduate with success on their side.
While a student must go to college for their required degree in the job of their choosing; a student must have the skill of being self-motivated for the purpose of being successful in college. The extra initiative that students take to complete assignments on time is always well rewarded with a passing grade. A student that may not work may not succeed; a freshman code that all students keep in the back of their mind when facing the mental and physical demands of college.
