In order to do well in college it is necessary to have leadership skills. There are many times in college when students are put into groups and told to work together; people with leadership skills thrive in environments like these. There are also times when a student in college will want to organize study sessions, and although this may not take much as first when in large classes, when the classes get smaller and more major-specific, this task becomes harder. Any college student has a much greater success potential with even just a few leadership skills in their pocket.

Many students are not very good leaders. This hinders their success because it is much harder to work in groups when no one steps up to lead. When no one leads the group flounders to get things done, and people do not live up to their potential. If one of the members had leadership skills they would be able to focus people where they would work best, and see to it that the group lived up to its full potential. A coherent group that works well together under a leader will present much better work than that of a group that struggles to find a leader. Doing the best work you can is the greatest form of success.

Studying is a large part of college. Many people work better in a group where they can feed off of each other's motivation. In lower level college classes there are more people in every class, because they are mostly general. As classes become more major-specific getting a group from your class together is much more challenging. It is much easier to gather half of your class if you have leadership skills, and can organize the get together. It is easier and more useful to study in a group where you can ask questions and learn from each other. Test scores improve significantly when your studying is efficient and accurate which would make you much more successful.

Generally, if you are a leader in college you will do better. You will be able to work with your peers better. When groups are made a leader can inspire the group to strive to their greatest potential. They will also be able to organize gatherings to study, or get help on projects. Leaders often succeed in college because they can work well with others. Working well with others and being able to lead is very important to all of life as well, not just college.
