A college degree has many benefits. I think having a degree is one way to measure my level of success. There are many personal and professional goals I have set for myself. Obtaining a college degree is one of the top items.

One of the greatest benefits would be being able to have control over what kind of career you will have for your future. You can decide to pursue a degree that matches your interests and passions. My father always says if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life and having a degree can help to ensure that.

Another benefit is the skills you will obtain while pursuing a degree that will last a lifetime. Time management, critical thinking, teamwork, problem solving and networking are all skills that you will need to be successful in life. College can present challenges that you will need to know how to overcome and persevere.

One of the more obvious but equally important benefits is a higher income. Many studies show that having a college degree on average earns more money than not. I have a quality of life that I want for myself and I truly believe that a college degree will be necessary to provide that.

If someone was on the fence about whether or not they should pursue a college degree, I would tell them yes because of all the reasons mentioned above. My mother obtained her college degrees and I see the life that she was able to build for our family. This motivates me to do the same.
