My Idea by Marcus - November 2023 Scholarship Essay

I have an idea or concept: once you find something you like doing, you can’t stop thinking about it, or you want to pursue whatever you are doing. Personally, every time that I find something that I enjoy doing, I want to find ways to be the best version of myself by doing whatever it is. It can be from just a simple sport, card tricks, whatever it is I want to be able to be good at that specific something. I think that a word to describe this concept is addictiveness. I am addicted to finding ways to be the best at whatever it is. This concept is very satisfying to me because mastering something that I am interested in or addicted to is one of the most outstanding achievements that anyone can do.

I get so invested in whatever it is that I want to do I lose all track of the time of anything or anyone that I was paying attention to get that satisfaction of being the best or being good at something that can be so simple as of doing a simple card trick or something that people have been trying to master for years. Like I said, everything else becomes a secondary subject that no longer matters to me. I will take sports for example because sports have been a part of my life since I realized what sports were. Everyone is striving for excellence, and in the middle of a match or game or whatever it is, people put in hours of training to be the best at their sport or subject, which makes every single second super important.

When trying to be the best at something, I usually turn to other people with similar interests or people known for this, like role models, famous athletes, actors, and writers. From what they have shown, they become an excellent source of inspiration. Few people today look at books or stuff like that anymore because you can find everything from simply looking stuff up on a simple YouTube video and getting millions of different opinions on whatever you are looking for. Still, they will all likely share at least one thing in common.
