I officially declare the the biology major to study in college as my best fit.

Back in Mexico, I lived near a community wellness clinic which was always busy and did not have the best quality of care. My mom believed that there were better places to go to in more advanced cities. Something quickly became clear: I wanted to study Medicine to help my small town. Even if I do not live in a small town anymore, I can still positively contribute to my beautiful Mexicantown community. By studying biology in high school, I realized its beautiful purpose: to deeply understand living organisms. I became fascinated with this course of study, which involves function, growth, evolution, distribution, and interaction. I believe that my journey does not end here. Through academic progression, I intend to apply acquired knowledge to individuals. Medicine has the potential to change lives. I am not afraid of the extensive journey to get there, but eager to learn all that I do not yet know. I hope to become a big-hearted cardiothoracic surgeon. It will not be as difficult If I already possess one of the parts of my dream.

Extensive cardiac issues exist within the Hispanic community and my family. Shattering moments that I have experienced sparked a desire to achieve change, and not only help a small town but all populations, even if it is challenging. I intend to facilitate future development of opportunities and quality of care to not only the Hispanic community, but all underrepresented minorities. As a future big-hearted cardiothoracic surgeon, my plans will develop within a growing community of innovation, diversity, and inclusivity. With the application of the great resources, such as the Varsity Tutors Scholarship, amazing resources will favor my advancement to support my community in need.
