Important Traits by Makayla - December 2018 Scholarship Essay
If I was on the committee that awards the Nobel Prize, my recipient would need to possess compassion and honesty. I would require the recipient to possess compassion because there is so much hatred in the world, someone with kindness and compassion in all areas of their life is rare and hard to find. The world needs more kindness and someone to think about everyone around them. If someone possesses this compassion, then they will be able to help others no matter the situation due to the fact that they will always put others before themselves and will always consider what someone is going through before they judge them or treat them in a negative way. The Nobel Prize is for someone who has done outstanding work in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, economics (since 1969), and the promotion of peace. These outstanding works mean the recipient must have done them for the better good of other people, or to better the nation or the world as a whole. Someone who has no compassion has no goals of bettering anyone around them, they only want to do what is best for themselves. I would also require my recipient to be honest. Honesty is the most important quality in my eyes. If a person is not honest, then they cannot be trusted. If they are honest then they will always be true to their morals and tell people the truth. If the recipient were to not be honest then they could lie about who they are and what they have done in order to receive the Nobel Prize, and that is not at all what this award is for. The outstanding works the recipients complete take a lot of time, hard work, and dedication. If the recipient lies about what they have done, then they cheated to win the Nobel Prize. That is unfair to those who really took the time and effort to actually complete what they did. The ones who actually completed these tasks deserve the Nobel Prize, not someone who lied and cheated their way to the top.
