When I was six years old by Makayla - June 2017 Scholarship Essay
Prompt: Describe what 6-year-old you wanted to be when you grew up, and how that has evolved throughout your education.
When I was six years old I dreamed and wanted to be a professional dancer. Even as a young child I worked extremely hard because I knew, as my parents have told me, that if I wanted something I would need to go to the next level of work to succeed. This characteristic has definitally evolved throughout my education.
My parents and I are very serious about my education and my future. Since I was very young they told me that if I wanted something in life and if I wanted to reach my goals I would need to focus on what I wanted to do and stay dedicated to it. They believe, as do I, that education comes before anything I participate in. Including dance and any other fun activities or clubs at my high school that I wanted to be a member of. With their tuff love this method has assisted me in maintaining my GPA of 3.8 and also resulted in me getting multiple acceptances into major universities, such as University of South Florida.
I hope to continue this work ethic and discipline not only through college but for the rest of my career and life.
