As children we are told about all the things we are going to accomplish when we are old. At the age of five we are asked about what we want to be. Most kids would say a doctor. My answer would be that I was going to be a farm animal veterinarian. Being asked again at fifteen you are supposed to be preparing yourself for how you are going to achieve the goals for where you want to be in your future. By the time I was ten I knew exactly what I wanted to do, even now I can say that it has not changed. Being asked the same question again now at seventeen, I can strongly answer with a plan.
I knew from a young age that I wanted to go to college, where and what for was a mystery for a while. Not only did I want to go but I also did not realize I had a choice, my family always preached about how important university was. I now decided to graduate early and attend Arizona State university. High school was too easy and not my social scene. I have always been more mature than most people I went to school with. It made me feel behind in life because it was not helping me work my way into having a good paying job, and a life that I could provide for myself.
Going through the process of getting to that point made me realize how much I thrived being independent, I was ready to get out on my own. I had grown up really fast from a young age having to be a secondary parent and help support my mom who was a young single parent of three. Now I am ready for college because I will be able to move and only be responsible for myself. I won't have to worry about how my actions will affect how things work out for my brothers. Of course I will miss them when I am gone but I am also excited to be able to be young and act my age.
