Impacting Future Generations by Madison - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
When I was in first grade, my teacher called a different student to her desk individually each day for what would be one of the most exciting times of my seven-year-old life. My teacher would let us sit in her chair while we learned our newest vocabulary words, allowing us to see what it was like to be in the position of a teacher. The day I was chosen, I remember sitting in her desk chair, fascinated by everything on her desk, and blown away by the fact that she had so much responsibility. She decided how we would learn things, what we would do, and how to make it fun. From that day forward, I knew I what I wanted to be when I grew up.
In ten years, I see myself as a teacher. My dream is to study elementary education and earn a bachelor’s degree after four years of studying in college. I hope to be an involved student and take advantage of leadership opportunities. I was active in my high school community, and I hope to use the skills I have gained from these experiences throughout my college and professional career. I look forward to becoming involved in a variety of the opportunities that college has to offer, and I know that four years of further education will impact me tremendously for the rest of my life.
Attending college will allow me to learn the skills necessary for teaching future generations. I want to have a positive influence on my students, like my teachers had for me. I will use what I have learned to teach children in creative and exciting ways. I hope to help future generations learn and work to be the best they can be.
