As I look to the future, many thoughts and feelings arise. Dreams of exploration, adventure, and impact—a life full of pursuing passions in extraordinary ways. Fears of failure, missed opportunities, or even more strongly, regrets. My passions lie in music and travel. Music touches people in a way that little else does. It transcends culture and language, bringing people together in a common experience. I intend to pursue these passions relentlessly, taking every opportunity to grow, learn, and experience the world, and to give back to those I encounter along the way through sharing a little of my life with theirs.
My specific avenue in music is woodwind doubling. Doubling is where I found the most versatile arena in music while remaining focused enough to refine and hone my craft. Doubling includes playing in pit orchestras or theatre, big bands and jazz bands, playing as a studio musician, and much more. It immerses me in the world of collaborative music and opens the door to many traveling opportunities with which I hope to bless those who listen.
By attending a university to continue my education in music, I will gain the necessary skills to make this dream a reality. With the numerous ensembles, dedicated faculty, and unique opportunities of being surrounded by like-minded individuals, I will be able to grow my skill set to support making my dreams a reality. It is through hard work and dedication that I intend to work towards these goals, and I am confident that pursuing education in this field will continue to lead me to opportunities. It is by taking these opportunities that I will be able to look back in ten years and know that I did my best. That is something of which to be proud, not one of which to regret.
