My passion for neonatal care started when I saw NICU babies for the first time during my clinical rotations. I was in admiration watching the newborns fight for their lives. The nurses at Methodist supported and nurtured the babies so they could grow and become healthy. It was the beginning of my realization that I want to be part of this loving community and career. As a woman, I felt connected to the babies as if they were my own. I want to be the person families turn to when they need medical care and emotional support. I want to be able to fight for the tiny and innocent and ensure they have the chance to walk out of the hospital and begin their lives. I aspire to be the kind of nurse who exceeds the boundaries of medical care and ensures that every baby receives the necessary support. This is more than a career; it is also a mission to make a difference in families facing adversity. I want to be vital for the babies when they do not have the power to be. I aim to be the best nurse possible by ensuring they feel loved and supported. I want to be the reason they can leave the hospital and begin their lives. My experience in the NICU has opened my eyes to the high stakes in nursing, and I am prepared to go to any length to assist.
