My favorite non-traditional way to learn is through Socratic seminars, which have greatly enriched my educational experience. These seminars involve group discussions where students sit in a circle and engage in free-flowing conversations with minimal teacher facilitation, typically focusing on a specific text, film, or other media. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in Socratic seminars in both English and History classes, and I find them invaluable for gaining new perspectives. I especially enjoy hearing interpretations that differ from my own, as it challenges my thinking and exposes me to viewpoints I might not have considered otherwise.
Beyond academics, I am also dedicated to learning better ways to improve my physical and mental well-being. With the increasing demands of school and other responsibilities, I’ve recognized the importance of maintaining a healthy balance. Recently, I’ve adopted healthier eating habits, started working out more consistently, and returned to journaling, which helps me reflect and manage stress. Additionally, I’ve been mindful of limiting my late-night technology use to improve my overall wellness. These experiences have taught me that growth extends beyond the classroom, and I am committed to developing both academically and personally as I continue my education.
