What keeps me motivated by Madison - April 2024 Scholarship Essay
Hi, my name is Madison Meeks. After high school, I plan on attending Enterprise State Community College. I will then transfer to Troy to pursue a degree in Special Education. I plan to become a Special Education teacher because I feel like I am called to do it. I love helping others in my school and community. Kids with Special Ed may not be capable of doing something or just need a little bit more help. They also show so much love and are always happy. I am motivated because of my cousin, who has down syndrome.
She has been the reason I wanted to do it for a couple of years now. We have always grown up together since I was old enough to remember. She has taught me so many things in life. It does not matter if you have something wrong with you, or if you are just as simple as can be. I know her life is different from mine. She is the happiest person I know, no matter what storm she may go through. You have to show people that you love them no matter how they look, if they have money, or a speech impediment.
Also, playing softball helps me stay motivated because I will be able to play for another two years at Enterprise State. Getting to play at the next level other than high school shows how much work and dedication I have put into this to get to the next level. I also want to put in the same work in school that I did in softball, so I can get my degree. To play softball I would have to keep my grades up and be poured into my school work, so I can keep doing one thing I love. I also want to show my parents that they have raised an independent daughter that is ready to take on whatever the world may throw at me. They have always told me that no matter what you go through, if you do not have God in your life, it will be hard to get through it.
Another thing that keeps me focused and motivated is my parents. They have always provided for me and showed what is right and wrong in life. I am so thankful to them and that they have helped me get this far in life. I hope to one day help them if they ever need my help, because of how much they poured into me. I hope when the day comes that I have kids I can show them all the things my parents did to get through life.
If I were awarded this scholarship, I would use it to help pay for summer classes. I will start early, so I can show my teachers that I am dedicated to doing this. Doing this will go ahead and show me that you need to learn how to budget your time in school.
Thank you for taking the time to read this essay of mine. I hope that I am a great candidate for this scholarship.
