How Hogwarts Gave Me Good Grades by Madison - October 2019 Scholarship Essay
When I was younger, I used to absolutely be in love with the mythical and magical world of J.K Rowling’s “Harry Potter.” Now, don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t one of those little kids running around with a maroon and gold scarf, but the magic of it all was something I loved.
The creativity that came from the movies was something that spurred my love for art and unconventional ways to go about things, but that wasn’t all. The know-it-all brainiac, Hermione Granger, from the series is what set the attitude of loving to learn in motion. The way she had just glowed and impressed her fellow students and friends with the capacity of knowledge that she has is what made me want to be like that, too. And now, here I am.
Although, a little unconventional, and a little amusing, Hermione Granger’s drive to know and learn is what made me want to love learning and has driven me to improve my grades throughout my life and grow my capacity to understand and learn.
Seemingly enough, a fictional character can only take me so far and can’t exactly push and encourage me to keep going myself. But, that spark is what I’ve kept in me. And it’s been fueled from my own drive, and from the potential of the person I’m going to become and accomplish.
