Welcome to Your Future by Madison - November 2014 Scholarship Essay
Being in high school is not an easy endeavor, it requires work if you want anything to come out of it. Those who work with you will not put any effort into your future unless you are willing to put effort into it yourself. Know that your ninth grade year counts when colleges look at your grades and whether or not you will be admitted. Scholarships depend on whether or not you put work into your high school career.
Not only are you going to work on your classes for your future, you are going to have to work on making relationships and joining extracurricular activities. When you are able to balance your school life and the life outside, you are learning what it will be like to have a job or college and having to balance all of the components that contribute. Colleges and other institutions are much more impressed with your ability to balance an effective and impact full high school experience.
Remember that, not only will you put work into your future, there are others there to help you whenever you feel stressed. These mentors are there just in case you have a question--no matter how small--and they will help when you need it most. You are not on this journey alone but you do have to put the most work you can in yourself.
