Seizing American History by Madison - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

Education is a vital key in not only our society but also our lives. I believe that the people we appoint to teach our children and upcoming generations ought to be passionate about the topic they are teaching. Additionally, it is important to be knowledgeable of the history of our nation and the government we formed. Hence, if I was a college professor, I would teach about American History because it is essential, and I have an ardor for the subject.
America's history exhibits our beginning and the fight we fought to form what some consider ‘The Nation of The Free.' We halted the assaults from the British, fought for our independence, and have assisted other nations in the fight for liberty since. Our history also depicts the mistakes we have made and the consequences that have followed. It is a necessity for us to keep a grasp on our blunders and not repeat them. We can teach the upcoming politicians, government workers, and possibly the future President of the United States to take into consideration the things we have done in the past. So he or she can see how our founders got things done, whether it was done right or wrong. The overall importance of our history is significant in understanding our relationships with other countries and exercising our options regarding our home. Every day another page is added into our history's book. It is a consistently changing topic, and as Francis Bacon once said, "Knowledge itself is power."
Our knowledge and future are crucial and every little action makes a difference. The same can be said about teaching our children who will take our positions and care for us one day. People who have a vigor for the subject they teach not only are more likely to teach it better, but also remember more details about that vast topic. Any student would long to be taught by a teacher who eagerly spits out information than a teacher educating on a subject they do not fully comprehend nor enjoy.
I feel the importance of our history and the advocate for it is indescribable. Therefore, if I was a college professor, I would educate a college class about American History. I would make it my duty to teach American History the best I possibly can.
