Creation: The Key to Achieving Nirvana by Madison - July 2016 Scholarship Essay
Through my numerous years of living and breathing at the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, I have been carefully taught a fundamental concept that in hindsight has proven its truth to me. Creation is a force that drives passion like the captain of a ship. Being in the presence of such creative souls who are wise beyond their years has taught me how passion and ingenuity combined lead to the greatest and most profound creations. Not only does our raw passion fuel creation, but we crave it. Humans crave creativity.
I believe in a proper system of education, going through math and science classes, perhaps studying in music or visual arts on the side. However, when these realms of intelligence are fused, we are able to do wondrous things with our minds that we may have never thought imaginable. We create spectacular things and come up with new ideas and innovations. Of course we’d need to be given the resources in order to do so, yet being so privileged shows immense rewards when we are able to create.
Looking into a topic we are passionate about gives us the ability to do anything. People who spend their days chasing down their dreams will eventually succeed, and create something beautiful in the process. I have really found my passions ignited while I’ve been at this school. The philosophy that ‘anything’s possible when you set your mind to it’ has rung so true to me and I know it has to everyone else who’s been to VSAA. Never have I found another place that has the ability to harness such creativity and put it into such amazing works as this. People are so much more capable that they give themselves credit for. It seems our brains and talents are constantly itching to create; to put our passions into something real.
Why is it that anyone would delve so deeply into something they do not connect to? Those who grow up hating their occupations, or continuously doing the jobs that don’t make them happy will never be successful. They may make a lot of money or acquire many possessions, but these tangible things will never add up to making one successful if they are not happy and doing what they love. Don’t waste your time with things you do not love. We cannot excel in something we do not care about. A true passion for something will take you farther than you ever imagined. After you find your passion, seize it. Grasp the reins with both fists forward and drive that hunger straight through the dust. And, create.
