How to get an A in 5 easy steps by Madiison - December 2017 Scholarship Essay
School projects are something that everyone has had to do sometime in their lives, whether it was in elementary school or college you’ve probably experienced the good old poster board project or the power point presentation. Over the years I have done more projects than I care to remember, many of which I didn’t get a very good grade on because I got busy and was pressed for time. But out of these mistakes I developed a strategy to help me put together well organized grade A projects. By utilizing some of these easy simple tips and tricks you too can get a shining A on that biology project.
One thing that I have learned over the years is you can’t do a book report on a book you haven’t read so in this case it is important to know the material you are basing your project on. I know for a lot of people one of the biggest struggles they face when completing a culminating project is that they don’t have a complete understanding about the topic their project is based on. My tip is to do some research to give yourself that extra knowledge and confidence about that topic. Try and think as if you are the teacher and you have to teach a class about that topic, doing this will not only help you to develop a better comprehension of the topic but it will also make that information easier to present to a class.
After you have done your homework so to speak, make an outline of everything you need for your project whether it’s the physical materials you need or if it the information. Make sure you are answering all parts of the questions being asked and you are not forgetting any key points in your assignment. My suggestion is to write everything down in a bullet point list format so you know what you have and what you don’t. Once you have created your list you can easily go back and check for what you need or add things to that list.
Get creative! Teachers love when students get creative with their projects. Really going the extra mile and thinking outside the box makes all the difference. Just adding little details to make your project stand out will get you extra points. Even if I doesn’t you earn you a couple more points you will have an interesting project that stands out from the crowd. Doing this will not only make your project look awesome but it will also increase your knowledge about the topic.
I cannot stress how important it is to go back and double check all of your work! Losing points over grammatical or spelling errors is like stubbing your toe: it is a stupid mistake that can easily be avoided. Make sure to go use spell check to double check all your spelling and even have a friend of family member read or look over your project to catch any misspelled words you may have missed. Having another set of eyes check over your work can be the difference between and A and a B. Ask your friends or family what they liked about your project or what they think could be better. Also, make sure that you included all the information necessary for your assignment, if your teacher or professor has provided you with a rubric then look over it. Look back over your bullet point list and cross of all of the things that you included in your assignment and if you didn’t cross off everything you know there is something missing.
Last but not least: Turn in your assignment on time! This could possibly be one of the most overlooked steps to an easy A. Too many times have I witnessed and fallen victim to a minus 5 points for a late assignment. An easy solution is to put it some place you know you will remember to grab it, or even write a note to yourself to make sure you turn it in.
If you follow these little tips and tricks and an A is guaranteed to come your way. But more importantly doing some of these little tricks will help increase your comprehension on these topics and subjects. Doing little things tricks like these will help create a better understanding for you because after all getting a good grade on a project is not as important as your comprehension of the topic itself. So as long as you follow these tips you will succeed on all of your future projects.
