Never Stop Learning by Madelyn - September 2018 Scholarship Essay
Learning is defined as the concept of obtaining knowledge or skills through experience, studying or being taught. Continuing to learn throughout one’s life is important because it helps us adapt to the constantly changing world. What we already know determines the person we are now, but continuing to learn can help shape us into the people we are to become.
Right now, I picture myself in 25 years as having a family, a rewarding job, being financially secure, and enjoying life. I hope to one day obtain a job in the allied health field. The health field is constantly changing with advancements in new technologies and improvements in procedures. I will be able to surround myself with new endeavors that challenge me on a daily basis. As the health field changes and improves, so will my knowledge.
I will also be able to learn and grow from my interactions with the people I meet along the way. I learn things every day from my family, friends, teachers, coworkers and other acquaintances: how to maneuver the crochet hook to form a blanket, how to love and smile when you can’t remember names or faces anymore, how to harmonize and form a sweet melody in a room with great acoustics, how to be part of a team with everyone knowing their worth. These living examples often inspire, challenge, and push me to be the best version of myself. This will be no different in the future.
In the next 25 years, as I am always learning, I imagine I will also learn to become a teacher. I will learn the worth of my knowledge and the value of passing it on. I would love to be a valuable mentor to new learners.
In 25 years, no matter where I'm at, there will always be new things to learn. Whether it is learning new job techniques or learning from my family and peers, there will always be something to learn in everything I do. It will also be important to realize that life is limited and I will have to reach my full potential before it is over. I will need to inspire, live life to its absolute fullest, and continue to learn every step of the way.
