Advice to a Second Grader by Maddison - March 2018 Scholarship Essay
School can be overwhelming. When I was in 2nd grade I really didn't enjoy it. I didn't understand why we were learning certain subjects. Now that I'm older, I understand why school is so powerful. Whatever one may dream of being in life, can achieve it with hard work, completing school, and going to college. It's so important for people to continue their education because it can help with understanding the world around us, and it assists us in achieving our dreams!
Although school can be confusing at times, it helps us understand how the world we live in actually works. What is the solar system made of? How do people speak in other countries? How do animals breathe underwater? There's so many questions that can be answered by getting an education. Plus there's so many subjects to study! Everybody has their own likes and dislikes, some favor certain subjects over others, and when they go to college, they can choose whatever subject they may want to learn about.
Most people have a dream about what they want to be when they grow up. No matter what job that is, it can most likely be accomplished by going to college. If somebody loves video games, they can go to school for game design. Or say they love soccer, they could end up coaching it! It all depends on the person and what they love to do, but no dream is too big. Sometimes it seems easy to give up, but hard work is required to achieve the big dreams we may have.
To sum up, by going to college one can understand how the world works, and why certain things happen. It can also help others get the jobs of their dreams. I believe everybody should work hard to go to college, even if it can seem difficult to obtain at times. It is so worth it, so we can live our lives to the fullest. College is an incredible place to be, so no matter what, we should do our best, and seize that opportunity.
