Listen Up Past Self by Macy - September 2022 Scholarship Essay

If I could give my past self a word of advice, it would be to work on my organization skills sooner. I have always been a free spirit. During my time in middle school, I was lucky that I was able to maintain A's without an extreme amount of effort or organization. Once I entered high school, I quickly learned that organization was key if I wanted to succeed. I researched online how to become more organized. I bought post-it notes, a white board and started using a planner. These new implements literally changed my life. I wish my younger self would have learned this earlier. Since I have become more organized, I find that I have more time in my day. This was a welcomed surprise. I am now able to easily balance my time between work, high school and being dual enrolled in community college. I also feel a sense of ease now that I am not worried about overlooking assignments.

Currently with the extra time that I have carved out in my day, I am using every extra minute to apply for scholarships to reduce the burden of school loans. Hopefully my efforts and new skills will pay off.

Thank you for your consideration. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity!
