My Mission by Mackinzi - May 2025 Scholarship Essay
Making a positive impact on the world by using lessons learned from school like the art of teamwork, appreciation of others, and the application of doing versus trying. Making the world a better place with unlimited money would positively impact the world and make it a better place because lots of minds, may that be the methodical thinkers or quick doers.
Creating a positive impact on the world is easier said than done but if you add unlimited money and time, everyone might say “easy”. What you may not think about is the fact that there are so many people with opinions and ideas that you have to work around. In school, we are taught teamwork. Surrounding yourself with others who have ideas on how to impact the world positively can help. Different people have different views and can connect to different people. For example, going on a service trip to feed the homeless, someone can cook and some can talk to others better. Making a space where they need and feel welcome makes them happy and positive. Lots of people can be in a team and they all have different skill sets to make an impact on the world.
Impacting the world with money and time is the easy part, making sure you as a person are appreciating the help is the hard part. As humans, we want to take on tasks bigger than ourselves once in a while, and asking for help is not in our nature most of the time. Teamwork is very important to get a network of people that can help support and create networks of systems in place that will help with ongoing projects to better the world in a positive way. Having many people means potentially way more organizations such as making sure everyone has a place to stay at night and a roof over their head, we need help to run those non-profit organizations, and that's when it would be extremely nice when lots of people could help and join. The more the merrier!
When doing a hard assessment in school sometimes is easy to just look up answers and put them down on your paper and that is what I call “doers”. When you spend hours on one problem and figure out the answer with your brain and skill I would call them “triers”. the difference? Lots. But, we need both of those people in our world. Sometimes we need just to get it done the fastest way, and sometimes we do need to think out strategy and how this may affect the world or one's life. Helping the world is a big task and we all die. So in my case trying to make big impacts quickly might be the best bet to maybe or maybe not get some credit. There are lots of ongoing problems as of 2025, that I would address quickly, so finding the best and quickest solution would be okay. But for problems that aren't dier like planting flowers a pattern can take a little more time making sure we know how many we need in certain spots etc.
I have spent more than half my life in school and learning ways to better myself and my community is what I have been taught over my course of schooling. Being able to work with others is a big part of school, making everyone is doing something and participating in activities. I learn best from others through their failures and accomplishments. Making an impact on the world positively is always been an interest of mine. Maybe one day I can.
