#TimetoGrow by MacKenzie - April 2018 Scholarship Essay
College is about more to me than just receiving a degree. It is more than just learning from my classes. It is even more than securing my dream job. Education to me is all about growth. As a student approaching my junior year of college, I have already grown so much, and I cannot wait to continue.
During my years as an undergraduate, I have learned a lot about myself. I have learned my strengths and weaknesses, academically and personally. Through hard work and a fair share of trial and error, I have learned how to best use my strengths and I have made great improvements upon my weaknesses.
I have also grown socially. Classmates, professors, and faculty have made a great impact on me personally. I have made friendships with people of all ages, joined clubs and participated in events, and held study groups. Every connection I make is very important to me. These are all people that I hope to carry in my heart as I continue my journey. What I have learned from them is invaluable.
Most importantly of all, I have pushed myself. I am no longer the shy girl that I was my freshman year. Over the last two years, I have taken on the philosophy that life is meant to be experienced, so I have taken every opportunity I have had. I acted in a play, sang in a talent show, performed in open mic night, volunteered with Phi Theta Kappa, and have just generally grabbed onto every opportunity to try something new and talk to new people. I am embracing every little thing that college has to offer me, because above and beyond everything college is a #TimetoGrow.
