What Does Education Mean to Me by Macayla - October 2022 Scholarship Essay
Education is important to me because I believe it gives a person the best chance for success. From a young age, education teaches how to learn and soak up knowledge for yourself. If a person masters this essential lesson, then they'll be able to accomplish anything in life because they'll know how to teach themselves through books, videos, conversation, and new material they are unfamiliar with.
Another tool education provides students with is the skill of clear communication. Clear communication is direct, precise, and understandable. Someone who is educated has trained themselves to communicate clearly. It is a necessary ability when giving speeches and writing papers. There never seem to be enough clear communicators to satisfy corporate America. A person who has invested in their education will stand above the average interviewer, shining with eloquent speech and sharp communication skills.
Perhaps the most crucial thing education can teach someone is how to work hard. Everything in life takes effort to achieve, and the things that are the most important to a person are often the things that take the most work. I want a well-paying job, healthy relationships with the people around me, and travel the world, exploring different landscapes and cultures. To attain any of these things, I have to work hard. Even when I feel like giving up, my dreams and passions spur me forward and encourage me to take the responsibility of my education seriously because the things I want to accomplish in my life won't be possible if I give up now.
I value my education and enjoy watching myself learn and grow despite its difficulties. I will diligently follow an academic path toward success no matter how frustrating the process becomes. I am dedicated and have watched myself accomplish so much; I must finish strong. A sound education gives me the best opportunity to thrive, which is why education is important to me.
