If I had Unlimited Dollars (If I Had Unlimited Dollars) by Lorelei - April 2023 Scholarship Essay
If I had unlimited dollars, I'd use my power for good. I'd move about the country working with young theatre artists honing their skills and helping them create characters everyone can love. If I had unlimited dollars, I'd build a network of safe spaces like a tree fort for all, a string of playhouses filled to the brim with love and acceptance, with talented teachers, directors, and coaches to make theatre accessible. If I had unlimited dollars, I'd buy a bus and pay a driver to make sure everyone has a way.
If I had unlimited dollars, I'd take what I've learned in school (theatre and art), and I'd act and sing for the masses. I'd give my heart and soul to the stage and convey the messages of our times. I'd mentor the young in acting and decoration. I'd direct and support productions and help others portray our lives, fact and fiction.
If I had unlimited dollars (If I had unlimited dollars) I'd buy playhouses and furnish them with plush, accommodating seats so everyone can be entertained in comfort. I'd equip them all with the latest in accessibility features like closed captioning and audio enhancement. It would be like a secret hideout, but available to all, a safe space for expression and entertainment. I'd offer master classes with the greats without the high high cost to the students because if I had unlimited dollars, I could afford to give to the theatre community, the up-and-comers, and those who, mistakenly, believe they're past their prime.
If I had unlimited dollars, I'd use my favorite part of school (theatre) and my life to make entertainment accessible and affordable.
