The Best Teacher Ever by Loraine - June 2021 Scholarship Essay
The most influential teacher I have ever had was my geography teacher in my freshman year of high school. When one begins high school at my school every freshman is required to take the geography course. The geography course is taught by only one teacher which teaches the whole graduating class but there is one teacher that takes in one class of freshmen in the school year. Since she is a world history teacher to sophomores she only has time to squeeze in a geography freshman class.
When I found out she was going to be my teacher I was a bit scared. I was scared due to the fact that none of my friends had taken her class and I was taking the class in the spring semester so I was not able to ask other people how their experience was with her. The only thing my friends were able to tell me is that the teacher they got for their geography class was the worst. She was horrible at teaching and would read off the presentation slides and would call that teaching. My teacher's name was Ms. Garcia, she was the most amazing teacher ever. She taught geography so well in which I was able to know all the countries by memory. She is the type of teacher to get one out of their comfort zone. When it came to assignments at times it was individual work or group projects. She would normally prefer for students to not choose the same person so that we can be able to know each other better. This would serve as a learning experience for when we attend college we are already familiar with assigned projects.
In the future I do plan of majoring in education in which Ms. Garcia has inspired me to do so. I have always wanted to become a teacher but until I had her as a teacher I realized that I wanted to be a teacher like her. She is a teacher that is well respected by her students but yet is lenient and nice at the same time. I have met teachers that are strict and rude or too nice where students walk all over them but Ms. Garcia is not like that. Luckily I was able to have her as a teacher in my sophomore year for world history and was taught amazing things. She was not the type to read off the presentation slides she would elaborate and make history fun and interesting.
