If the roles were reversed, the academic subject I would like to teach is history. I have enjoyed history from a young age. While other 3 year old boys were watching cartoons I was sitting in my grandfather's lap watching the history channel. It is a love that has never faded. I especially like Vietnam and WWII history. My grandfather was a gunner in Vietnam and who doesn't find the trials and tribulations of WWII fascinating.

I feel it is important for young people to remember our history. We have learned lessons from our history that have brought change and some of our history is repeating. As a teacher, I would try to make learning about history as fun as possible. Field trips, as fun as they are, are a valuable tool when teaching history. My ideal place to teach would be Washington DC. I could only image the amazing field trips students could have. We all learn in different ways.

I think a lot of the students would learn more from those visits at the museum than any classroom. I have been lucky enough to visit the White House with my JROTC. It was a trip of a lifetime. Surprisingly, it was extra special because we had a visit Mrs. Obama and Jenna Bush! I learned so much from the tip that I had not learned in class or better helped me understand. History is certainly a subject I would enjoy teaching if the roles were reversed.
