A relationship a little deeper than just, "Teacher and Student." by Logan - October 2016 Scholarship Essay
If the roles were reversed, the outcome would be spectacular. Being a student, switching roles with a teacher, I would touch peoples lives. Building relationships, and helping students choose career paths for themselves would be the top priority, rather than challenging students in areas where challenge isn't needed. I'd switch roles with my sports medicine teacher. Her class is what inspired me to choose the career path I have chosen. Teaching kids about their own body, and health, and what goes on in side of them is the most important thing. If someones isn't knowledgeable of their own body how on earth could they go through life comfortable with the changes that will occur to them.
Teaching a subject as interesting as sports med and health gets students excited to learn. There wouldn't a single day that passes where a student could say "what am I going to do with this information?". Each and everyday students have changes and injury, and things that happen in their own body that may freak them out. Teaching students why this happens to them or why something will happen to them makes kids engaged an interested in each lesson and often times engages students so much that they then pursue career paths related to health science. It's not like a math class where kids will never use that information ever again, or history where some students couldn't care less about the past, or English where some students can't stand reading. Each and every student can and will be interested in what goes on inside their body at some point or another. Teaching students about personal topics is what builds trust and relationships deeper than just student and teacher. If I were to switch roles with one of my teachers, that is why.
