Avid, Advance Via individual determination. The program has been impacting middle and high schoolers. We are introduced to different types of skills that help us in a workforce or extended education. Skills such as communication, we are exposed to volunteering experiences and interacting with others that we would not be comfortable talking to. We are expected to step out of our comfort zones and make connections with others. Multitasking skills are obtained while being in AVID, handling a rigorous course schedule. AVID supports students and gives an extra support to those in rigorous courses.
Seniorologie, a more advanced version of tutorials this gives students an introduction to study groups in college. We place ourselves into groups that help with different courses that we have trouble with. Seniorologie help students in problem solving skills because we try getting from point A to point B based on knowledge of the group. Being able to create questions and ways to solve the questions is an important skill to have obtained before entering the workforce or higher education. Obtaining skills can be important but the friendships that are created in AVID. Friendships are not just created in AVID but a family. This creates a back support for everyone and different types of personal and educational situations. This gives everyone a continuation of being comfortable in new surroundings or situations.
As a student and employee, avid has impacted me in many ways. I have learned about the importance of communication between others. In a workforce, communication is important to keep the environment well. Being in a higher education, there must be communication between a professor and a student. Many students are not exposed to communication skills, this can keep students from seeing their full potential. Problem solving skills help others solve situations involving a workforce and education.
