Pacing Your Studying by Lincoln - January 2014 Scholarship Essay

From an early age I have practiced, and perfected my reading comprehension and, analytical skills in order to construct a studying method that has helped me in all of my classes. The method that I use combines reading in a deeper train of understanding, and reading more slowly and more frequently to allow the material to fully get absorbed. This allows me to remember topics and vocabulary that normally would be forgotten after speed reading through material, or just skimming the text.

Pacing myself and making sure I allot enough time to read all the material I can, and to study as much as possible is also an important part of my study method. Doing this allows me to plan my studying and to make sure I take my time and allow myself time to absorb and retain all of the information I read.

With the help of this study method I have successfully made it through some of the most difficult classes, and some of the most difficult tests of my academic career. It has helped me reach my full potential in class, and to get the grades I pushed myself to acquire. Studying makes all the difference in class, and my studying methods have definitely helped me make the transition to college.
