What I would do in my gap year by Lily - August 2019 Scholarship Essay

If I took a gap year, I would want to get the most out of it. I wouldn’t want to sit around all year because that would be so boring. I would want to take some time and find a decent job as well as get out and about and make new friends or spend more time with my regular friends. These are important to especially getting a job so I can save money for school.

I would find a job that I enjoy and that will give me satisfaction, particularly in my chosen degree field. I want to help people so I would volunteer in my time off from work and help those less fortunate than I am. I enjoy volunteering so volunteering at a homeless shelter or helping clean up a community would be great fun for me.

If I had enough time and extra funds I would go away for a weekend with my friends. I would want to spend some time at the beach and be able to just relax before I go back to the stress of school. I want to be ready to take on the challenge of school and be able to do well.

I would also take the time during the gap year to figure out who I really am, to find myself and work on some things in my life. I would take the time to fix any problems in my life that might hold me back from being my best self in college.
