Leading the way to victory! by Lilly - May 2024 Scholarship Essay

"To be a leader, you have to make people want to follow you, and nobody wants to follow someone who doesn’t know where he is going" said Joe Namath. Being a leader starts by knowing the direction in which you need to lead your followers. A leader cannot proceed without knowing the goals the group needs to accomplish. Now you may be thinking, who is Joe Namath? Namath is a former quarterback for the New York Jets. Whether you're leading a football team or an entire nation, leadership is not defined by the amount of followers but the ability to strive towards completing the goals of the group.

My mother was never the biggest football fan but she scored points through raising her five kids and maintaining a full time job. Although she did not have a whole football team to lead her small team everyday to create us into the amazing people we are today. Her goal was to keep us healthy and happy, and by listening to us she was able to help us complete our goals. I am forever thankful for the way my mother lead our family. She is truly a role model to all of us.
