If the roles were reversed, which academic subject would you teach and why? by Lillian - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

If the roles were reversed, the academic subject I would teach is health. Health is a subject that is important to everyone and can be used throughout a person’s life. The reason I would teach health is the long term benefits to others, and the versatility of the subject.
I would teach health because it is a subject that can benefit any person. I think that health class is a great way to inform and learn about how to eat and be healthy. The subject is very broad and that makes for a versatile class. With the growing rates of obesity and cardiovascular disease in the United States I think it is a great idea to inform the youth about the risks of eating unhealthily. That is not the only thing that could be important to the public but it is a factor facing the country and its inhabitants, but I digress. Another reason I would choose to be a health educator would be the versatility of the subject.
Health is a topic that has many angles. It can be focused on mental health, which is a crucial subject to learn about. Health can also be focused on physical health. Both aspects are imperative to the average citizen, and would be helpful to teach. In addition to mental and physical health, the subject addresses relevant issues in day-to-day life.
In conclusion, if the roles were reversed, the academic subject I would teach would be health. Health is important for everyone and it is extremely versatile. I feel like this topic applies to my personality and what I want to do in my adult life.
