Advice for the younger student by Liliann - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Knowing what you know now, what is one piece of advice you'd share with younger students?
I am not the traditional student, I never was. I dropped out of high school and later finished my GED. It took me five years to finish up my associates degree while married to an abusive husband. I divorced, recovered and found my strength.
I found an amazing man had a family and took 15 years more to finish up my bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies. My life thus far has surrounded working with families and children who need a voice.
What advice do I give younger students you ask; don’t give up in a nut shell! Life comes with ups and downs, it comes with struggles, it comes with joy and laughter and in the end you must live life to its fullest.
As a young student, you have friends, family, job, lessons, readings, papers all pulling at your time. Get organized in your own way, does that mean writing out each lesson in a calendar. Are you more technically savvy, does your phone hold all things important?
Use those apps that will help you get organized, however you organization looks for you hold on to it as it will help not only with school but with life.
