Embrace Uniqueness by Lekha - March 2019 Scholarship Essay

Welcome to your new high school where possibilities are limitless! If I were to lead a tour of my highschool to members of the incoming freshmen class, there would be a plethora of advice I would provide. However, if there was just one advice I would share, it would be to the point and very simple.

High school is a new beginning for a lot of freshman especially leaving middle school. Personally, middle school left me with many tears after all the drama I went through, and I wanted the next four years of my life to be life-changing. I wanted it to be a place where I can start over. I wanted it to be a place where I can apply the lessons I gained from my mistakes. I wanted to simply be proud to embrace uniqueness. High school was a great place for me to express my talents that I had that made me unique. We all are unique and I don't think we should ever stop ourselves from welcoming it. Uniqueness is what makes us all stand out and it makes us who we are. It allows for the community to change to become a better place, conveying that high school welcomes everyone regardless of how different they may be. I would encourage every freshmen to leave behind the idea of wanting to be popular and to be confident in being themselves. Being yourself allows for new ideas to come into the school so high school would thrive. Being yourself shows your peers that you have something that no one else can have. Being yourself never stops you from achieving your dreams. It helps possibilities become limitless.

And this is the auditorium where it ends our tour. I hope this tour was helpful in every way and never forget to embrace uniqueness. We all are excited to see the change you bring to high school next year as you thrive to be yourself.
